A youtube channel, which discusses gossip about Tamil cinema and its celebrities without any proof, has stirred controversy by stating that a famous Tamil director has disrespected a political party's leader in their recent video. The director has slammed the misinformation and hit back at the youtube channel for spreading rumours.

Ravikumar is a promising Tamil filmmaker, who debuted with Vishnu Vishal's "Indru Netru Naalai" and is currently working on Sivakarthikeyan's "Ayalaan". A cinema updates youtube channel has allegedly reported that Ravikumar treated Naam Thamizhar party leader Seeman with disrespect while meeting him. This act has stirred a quarrel with the filmmaker on social media.

Director Ravi Kumar denied the allegations on his social media page and wrote, "I never met Seaman and talked to him. I don’t even know if he knows me. But I could not accept the spread of slander that I had acted negligently when he spoke to me. I am not one to be indifferent to anyone. To say that you witnessed an incident that did not happen is a huge slander. I urge you not to spread false news to thousands of people."
