Ayudham is an action-packed romantic entertainer sans any logic. With Prashanth flexing his muscles with Sneha providing more glamour than usual, Ayudham is certainly a film for the masses. After a relatively sedate start the movie takes to top gear towards interval. Though the movie has shades of Jeyam and Ghilli, yet the swift screenplay makes it engrossing. Siva (Prashanth), a medical college student, is an angry young man who is never afraid to question evils in the society. He comes across Maha (Sneha), a Brahmin girl, a student of his college and it turns out to be love at first sight.

For Maha, the problem lies in the form of Naga (Subburaj). Son of her servant maid, Naga is sent to a reformatory school at his young age. But he manages to escape from the school only to join hands with a local dadha Velu (Janakaraj). When he grows up, he expresses his desire to marry Maha. He even threatens to bump off her family if she does not yield to his desire.

Enters Siva. The rest is all but a clash between Siva and Naga.

Naga with his political influence tries to put Siva behind bars but thanks to Siva's shrewd moves, all plans of Naga are thwarted.

It's Prashanth all the way. Not just in dance sequences but in stunts too he impresses. However he looks too mature to play the role of a college student. Watch out Prashanth!. It's a tailor made role for Sneha. Her expressions of fear and naivete whenever she confronts Naga deserve appreciation. She appears for a couple of duets besides running away with Prashanth whenever she comes across Naga.

Vadivelu plays a brief role of a pickpocket in the movie. As usual he brings the roof down with his typical brand of comedy. Subburaj, a debutant plays the villain the movie. He certainly looks promising. Neranja Manasu fame Susan plays a cameo and dances for an item number in skimpy costumes. Rajesh, Mansoor Ali Khan, Kalairani are also in the cast.

Dhina's music is a major let down in this movie. Loud re-recording and familiar tunes take away the sheen. Kanal Kannan's stunts and Aravindh's cinematography add strength to the film.

Director M A Murugesh, who disappointed audience with his debut movie Indru Mudhal, has tried to compensate with a racy entertainer. The director seems to have succeeded in his endeavor.

But for logical lapses, Ayudham is a typical commercial entertainer.
