Why is Mohanlal's new movie Villain shot in 8K? Director B.Unnikrishnan reveals

In a recent interview, B.Unnikrishnan explained the reason behind shooting his upcoming directorial Villain in 8K technology by using a special 'Red' camera of 'Weapon Helium 8K' series. By adapting this new high-end technology, Villain becomes the first Indian movie to be shoot completely in 8K resolution.
The director said that he do not wish to compromise the quality of the movie's visuals and so he decided to shoot the movie in 8K resolution. While most Mollywood films are shot at 1.8K and then upscaled to 2K or 4K, which results in the drop of its visual grandeur, B. Unnikrishnan explained that he will be shooting Villain in 8K and then bring it down to 4K or 2K, so as to maintain the quality of the visuals.
Renowned cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, famous for his works in Kollywood movies such as Nanban and Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya, is Villain's DOP. The movie will also have much significance to special effects, handled by an international company from Poland.
Touted to be a stylish thriller, Villain has Mohanlal playing an ex-cop cop while Manju Warrier plays his wife. The film also has Vishal, Hansika, Srikanth and Rashi Khanna in pivotal roles. Produced by Rockline Entertainments, the movie has Pulimurugan fame stunt choreographer Peter Hein choreographing a special stunt sequence for Mohanlal. The team is currently filming the second schedule of Villain in Vagamon.
