'Babu Baga Busy': Full-fledged adult comedy awaited

'Babu Baga Busy' is perhaps one of the few full-fledged adult comedies out there. If you consider 'Guntur Talkies', which too was touted as an adult comedy, it was more about crime thriller aspects. Yes, it boasted of an extra-marital affair, a lady don who rapes the hero, and a middle-aged man who is sexually frustrated because his wife eloped many years ago. But it was not the main theme.

Then there was 'Naruda Donoruda', the remake of 'Vicky Donor' (Hindi). The Sumanth-starrer did qualify to be an out-and-out adult comedy if you count only the first half. It was a play on words by the writers, complete with closeted references to masturbation (read handicraft) and oral sex. However, the film was an emotional drama in the second half.

On the other hand, 'Babu Baga Busy', a remake of 'Hunterrr' (Hindi, again), belongs to a league of its own. On the face of it, it seems to be a faithful remake. The original was unapologetic in telling the story of a sex addict who comes of age when he finds his love of life. Now, the film has its share of bold elements: the hero as a teenage boy clandestinely watching a blue film in the neighbourhood theatre, a woman's extra-marital affair with the hero, so on and so forth. But it stays truly youthful and funny till the end.

Starring Srinivas Avasarala, the adult comedy is directed by debutante Naveen Medaram. With Mishty Chakravarty, Tejaswi Madivada, Supriya Aysola, and Shreemukhi in key roles, its trailer has been a hit.

When the film releases tomorrow (May 5), make sure you grab your tickets and a lot of popcorn.
