Chiyaan Vikram who got his big break in Tamil cinema with 'Sethu' directed by Bala also wanted his son Dhruv Vikram to debut under the same director and they joined hands for 'Varma' the Tamil remake of the Telugu super hit film 'Arjun Reddy.

'Varma' starred Megha as Dhruv Vikram's pair while Raiza Wilson played a prominent role. The Principal Photography was wrapped up in September 2018. On 7 February 2019, E4 Entertainment the producer of the film issued a press statement stating that they would go for a complete re-shoot as they were not satisfied with the final cut provided by Bala.

A new film was announced titled 'Aditya Varma' with Dhruv retained and Banita Sandhu and Priya Anand as the female leads with Girisaaya the co-director of the original film at the helm. This became the first such incident in Tamil cinema that the producer of the film refused to release the film due to an unsatisfactory final cut despite the completion of the film.

'Aditya Varma' released on November 22nd and though Dhruv Vikram's performance was well appreciated the film did not do well at the box office. Fans were eager to see how Bala would have depicted the film and were asking for it to release at least on OTT.

Now it has been officially announced that Bala's 'Varma' will be released on a streaming platform Simply South on October 6th. However, the catch is that Indian viewers can not watch it as the platform is available only outside India. We will have to wait and see when the film will get an Indian release so that fans can have a taste of the master filmmaker after a long time.

This is also the first time ever two Tamil films with the same hero directed by different directors based on the same story is releasing though on different platforms.
