Theatres have witnessed chaotic action during benefit shows in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu over the years. In the age of social media, videos pertaining to such shows have gone viral from time to time. In recent weeks, the re-release of movies like 'Pokiri', 'Kushi', 'Jalsa' and 'Okkadu' has led to fans going berserk inside theatres, sometimes going to the extent of putting themselves at risk by causing fire inside the theatre.
Recently, several exhibitors in Tamil Nadu were too scared to hold midnight shows of 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' fearing that the fans of Vijay and Ajith might resort to violent celebrations in a competitive mood.
In the latest instance, Balakrishna's fans have created a ruckus in a theatre in the US. The cinema hall's management was taken aback by the indiscipline of the audience. So much so, they decided to stall the show. There was no prior warning even.
Reacting to the news, several Netizens are saying that fans must know what things are like in countries like the US, where safety and security protocols are adhered to religiously. "Telugu diaspora should learn a thing or two about theatre etiquette. It's not India where you can literally set a theatre on fire," a social media user tweeted.
