Balapur Laddu auction fetches a record price of Rs 17.60 lakh

Every year, the auction of the Balapur Ganesh Laddu in Rangareddy district on the Immersion Day becomes a matter of great interest among the public. News channels telecast the auction live and millions watch it on TV.
Earlier today, the laddu was auctioned for a record Rs 17.60 lakh. Kolan Rami Reddy won the auction, much to the glee of his supporters and family members. In the 26 years of the Balapur Laddu history, Reddy's family has won the auction 9 times.
The initial price set by the committee today was a mere Rs 1,116. In ten minutes flat, the participants raised the stakes several hundred times!
