An incident involving gunfire created tension in Ballari, Karnataka, following a dispute over the installation of flex banners near the residence of Gali Janardhan Reddy. The clash between supporters of two political leaders escalated rapidly, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to another.
According to details, the incident took place in the Havambhavi area of Ballari, where supporters of local Congress MLA Bharat Reddy were attempting to put up flex banners in connection with a programme. Gali Janardhan Reddy’s supporters objected to the banners being tied to the compound wall of his house and reportedly asked that they be erected outside the premises instead.
This led to an argument between Satish Reddy, identified as a supporter of MLA Bharat Reddy, and supporters of Gali Janardhan Reddy. As tensions rose, both sides allegedly engaged in stone-pelting, further worsening the situation.

During the altercation, Gali Janardhan Reddy’s gunmen, who arrived at the spot, reportedly fired shots into the air in an attempt to control the crowd. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Satish Reddy allegedly snatched a firearm from one of the gunmen and fired shots in the direction of Gali Janardhan Reddy.
In the exchange of gunfire that followed, Rajasekhar Reddy, a supporter of MLA Bharat Reddy, was fatally injured. Satish Reddy sustained bullet injuries but survived the incident. Gali Janardhan Reddy, meanwhile, escaped unharmed.
Following the incident, Gali Janardhan Reddy lodged a complaint with the police, accusing Bharat Reddy’s supporters of attacking him and his associates. The incident triggered panic and heightened tension in the locality, prompting the police to deploy additional forces.
Police officials intervened swiftly, brought the situation under control, and tightened security in the area. A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation into the sequence of events is currently underway.
