The past weekend saw high drama surrounding veteran actress Banupriya as one Prabhavathi lodged a police complaint at the Samarlakottai police station in Andhra.  According to the complaint Sandhiya a fourteen year old girl working as a domestic help in the actress's household was allegedly beaten up and sexually abused by Banupriya's brother Gopalakrishnan.

Banupriya had denied the charges and posed counter allegations that the girl had stolen 25 sovereigns of jewelry and one and a half lakhs cash.  Child Protection authorities rescued Sandhiya from the actress's house and has been sent to a protection unit in Thenampet, Chennai after getting her statement on the issues.  The Andhra Police are expected to arrive to question her on her allegations.
