Music: Pritam Chakraborty

Barfi is a delectable Indian dessert but in Anurag Basu's film, Barfi is the name of an endearing deaf and mute boy played by Ranbir Kapoor whose actual name is Murphy but since he is speech impaired he says his name as Barfi. Anurag Basu has come out with a soft emotional story which has a hearing and speech impaired boy falling in love with an autistic girl. He has once again got music director Pritam to compose this time. Anurag Basu and Pritam have worked together in his earlier films like Gangster and Life In a Metro.

Barfi

Singer: Mohit Chauhan

Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

The album opens with the title track Barfi which is rendered by Mohit Chauhan. Swanand Kirkire lyrics are very creative and take you back in the 70's. Pritam has this time come with a soft rock ballad and is persistent in his own artistic way. Overall the song is simply superb and Ranbir Kapoor has taken it to another groove with his superb performance.

Ala Barfi

Singer: Swanand Kirkire

There is another version of the same song titled Ala Barfi in Swanand's own voice. It is slightly different from Mohit's version. Swananad has given it a very Kishore Kumar touch. Both the versions are simply heart rendering and will have great repeat value.

Main Kya Karoon

 Singer: Nikhil Paul George

Lyrics: Ashish Pandit

Next is another heartwarming romantic song Main Kya Karoon. Pritam has given break to his music troupe member Nikhil Paul George who has collaborated with him behind the scenes in many of his hit compositions. Ashish Pandit's meaningful lyrics and Nikhil's husky voice are an apt combination for Ranbir Kapoor. Anurag Basu has also shot the song in a very beautiful manner. It takes the song on a different level altogether.

Kyon

Singer: Papon & Sunidhi Chauhan

Lyrics: Neelesh Mishra

After Main Kya Karoon the album progresses with forward with another romantic track by Papon and Sunidhi Chauhan. Neelesh Mishra's lyrics literally narrate the song in a very lyrical form with Papon's soft tones. While Papon's tones also matches Sunidhi Chauhan's husky voice. Pritam's Impressive music peppered with guitar strums and wind chimes the song is a delight to hear. Pritam has come with a different genre of soft romantic ballads and is highly inspiring.

Aashiyan

Singer: Shreya Ghoshal & Nikhil Paul George

Lyrics:Swanand Kirkire

Next comes a playful, chirpy song Aashiyan sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Nikhil Paul George. This song is a delight to watch in the film with Ranbir's and Priyanka's antics. Pritam has created a perfect 60's number giving it a very rock feel. The song has the feel of the bygone era as far as the arrangements are concerned and Swanand Kirkire's simplicity in his lyrics adds to it.

Anurag Basu has picturised it beautifully, as he creates a very innocent and naive atmosphere of the playfulness between an autistic girl and a hearing and speech impaired boy. Nikhil Paul George has rendered the song giving it a very charming feel.

Aashiyan

Singer: Nikhil Paul George

Nikhil's solo version is a perfect background score. He is simply superb. Pritam's composition is simply outstanding.

Phir Le Aaya Dil

Singer: Rekha Bhardwaj

Phri Le Aaya Dil

Singer: Arijit Singh

Ghazal lovers can add one more to their collection with Rekha Bharadwaj's Phir Le Aaya Dil. Swanand Kirkire's lyrics are nurtured with poetic expression. Pritam has made use of Sitar and table liberally. 'Phir Le Aaya Dil (Redux) by Shafaqat Ali Khan brings vivid shades of Sufism to this beautiful track

There is also a reprise version by Arijit Singh which even outnumbers Rekha Bhardwaj's numbe. It is Abhijit's finest numbes till date.

Saawali Si Raat

Singer: Arijit Singh

Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

The last track in the album Saawali Si Raat is a sweet lullaby rendered by Arijit singh. His husky voice is perfect for this rendition making it into yet another brilliant track. Swanand Kirkire's simple lyrics deserve an extraordinary mention. Pritam delivers yet another soulful tack.

Overall: Pritam is sure to win awards galore with `Barfi' the combinations are unique and impeccable it's a sure shot winner.
