Bhageeratha

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

Ravi Teja is a pugnacious customer You can't get a more determined customer than the rugged hero who has proved every critic in the industry wrong. Starting as a one-bit actor, he has now risen to be one of the most bankable mass heroes.

And whenever the chips are down, he stages a big comeback, making the doomsday predictioners eat their own words.

Ravi Teja, just at the start of the year, was said to be at the crossroads. People were saying that his dream run had come to an end. They were speaking based on the failures Naa Autograph and Chanti. Both were huge disasters and Ravi Teja had nowhere to hide.

And then out of the blue, he conjured up success through Bhadra. Critics had panned the film to be a pale imitation of Okkadu. But Ravi Teja's magic with the masses ensured that Bhadra is a major hit of the year.

Ergo, there is now high hopes on Bhageeratha. In fact, the name is apt in the context of the struggles that Ravi Teja himself has undergone over the years in the industry.

Bhageeratha is a typical action-fun film. It has all the ingredients that fans have now come to expect of Ravi Teja. Giving him company will be Shriya, an actress who has also consistently confounded the critics.

She, after one of the biggest losing sequences in the history of Tollywood, is still in demand. But Shriya will be hoping that Bhageeratha (the symbolism is right for her, too) will make break the jinx.

The film has been shot in places like Austria and some other East European locations. For director, Rasool, known for his techno gumption (his Okkariki Okkari is a good example of that), this is also a major test.

He has a flair for action and Ravi Teja too shares that.Rasool, who has been cinematographer before, has the knack for making films with a rare feel and style. Shriya too shares that.

So Rasool's ease with his lead pair will make the film (hopefully) a gritty entertainer. Chakri's has come up with some typical melodies that is mix of trendy and tradition.

The film is set for release later this month.
