The 2020 National Film Awards were announced today. And 'Color Photo', which had to be released directly on OTT due to the coronavirus pandemic, has won the Best Telugu Film National Award.

Released on October 23 in 2020, the film was directed by Sandeep Raj. The director's name was mentioned by the jury while announcing the award.

'Colour Photo', starring Suhaas, Chandni Chowdary, Viva Harsha and Sunil, has been streaming on Aha. Set in Machilipatnam, sometime in the late 1990s, the film was a moving love story between Jayakrishna (Suhaas), a college student with big dreams, who falls for Deepu (Chandini Chowdary), his classmate and sister of a heartless cop named Rambabu (Sunil). Jayakrishna faces colour-based discrimination and, once Rambabu comes to know of his love affair with his sister, major problems ensue.

In our review, we praised the movie for its emotional content. "Writers Sai Rajesh Neelam (also one of the producers of the film) and Sandeep Raj write not just characters but also character arcs - even for non-lead actors," IndiaGlitz reviewed. "'Colour Photo' pushes the envelope insofar as it tells a cataclysmic love story laced with suspense. Debutant director Sandeep Raj tells a layered story with well-etched characters," our review added.
