Robert F. Smith, technology investor and businessman, has eliminated the student loans of around 400 graduating students in Morehouse College, Atlanta. During his speech in the historically all-male black college, the philanthropist who had already donated $1.5 million said: “On behalf of the eight generations of my family who have been in this country, we’re going to put a little fuel in your bus. My family is making a grant to eliminate their student loans.” He has pledged to donate $40 million to the college in this regard. During the ceremony, Smith also received an honorary doctorate from the college.

The students of the college were overjoyed to hear this. President of the college, David Thomas said: "People were stunned. If you look at any other film footage, you will see the students turning to each other. What did he say? Did he say what I think he said?”

This is not the first time Smith has been this generous. He has also donated $50 million to Cornell University to support African-American engineering students and $20 million to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. His initiatives are admirable and will surely help hundreds of students to achieve their dreams.
