Last week Superstar Rajinikanth`s name was associated with a biopic on Mysore King Tippu Sultan as a producer conveyed his intent to approach the star to make him act in the lead role.

As soon as this was reported in media Ramagopalan, the leader of Hindu Munnai a religious outfit warned Rajini against act in the film as he felt that Tippu Sultan was responsible of killing and displacement of hundreds of Tamils, especially Hindus. He has also said that no Tamil actor should act in a film on Tippu Sultan and warned that a film glorifying him would not be allowed to be screened anywhere in Tamil Nadu.

Now a leader of the prominent political party which rules the country at the Centre has also echoed the sentiments of the Religious groups. H.Raja, a senior leader in Bharathiya Janatha Party has appealed to the Superstar to not act in a film on Tippu Sultan alleging that the latter was responsible for killing of hundreds of Hindus including women and children.

Rajini is yet to meet the producer or respond to any of these appeals. The shooting for his next film Kabali` directed by Pa.Ranjith is starting from today in Chennai and this is going to keep the senior actor busy for the next few months.
