The husband of a BJP lawmaker's daughter in Uttar Pradesh was assaulted at the Allahabad High Court earlier today, where the couple had gone to seek protection after receiving alleged threats from the girl's father over her marriage to a Dalit man.

Ajitesh Kumar (29) and his wife Sakshi Mishra (23) arrived at the Allahabad high court from Noida last week to seek police protection, citing threat to her life and her husband's from her father Rajesh Kumar Mishra's goons as she had gotten married against her family's wishes. Ajitesh was allegedly assaulted by unidentified people earlier today in the corridor of the High Court. He was rescued soon after by the Noida police who are currently offering the couple protection. As they were about to enter the courtroom Ajitesh was beaten while in police protection. Only Ajitesh was beaten up. It is not known who these people are, but it proves there is indeed a threat to their life for which they are seeking protection, lawyer SM Naseem, who witnessed the attack, said.

Sakshi Mishra, who married Ajitesh Kumar in a temple July 4 this year, uploaded a video on social media accusing her father and brother of threatening her for marrying a man belonging to a different caste. Sakshi, in the video that went viral on social media, said, Papa and Vicky, I mean Honourable MLA Pappu Bhartaul ji and Vicky Bhartaul ji, please live and let us live in peace. Papa, you have sent your goons after me...like Rajiv Rana... I am tired... We are tired of running around and our life is in danger. Vicky and Papa, stop troubling Abhi and his relatives. You live in peace, do politics. I want to be happy and free. Through this video, I want to say that if in future anything happens to me, Abhi or his family, my father, Vicky Bhartaul and Rajiv Rana will be responsible for it... Those who are helping my father, stop helping him because our lives are in danger. Please Papa, change your mindset. Abhi and his family are good people, they are not animals.
