Suriya has been one of the most vocal critics of the NEET selection process, which he says puts Tamil Nadu's poor aspirants at a great disadvantage.

Suriya recently invited his social media followers to register their objections to the proposed Cinematograph Act. He also used the hashtag 'Freedom of Expression' in his tweet. His brother and actor Karthi, too, opposed it.

Suriya was last month in the news for meeting with TN Chief Minister MK Stalin and donating Rs 1 Cr to the CM Relief Fund.
