Who said a director's place is only behind the camera? These days we have seen several filmmakers who are successful even after donning the grease paint, besides directing the film. Here we look at the directors who have nailed it behind and in front of the camera. These are the ace Directors who have amazed audiences with their performances as well as made a mark in acting.

Karan Johar: After establishing himself as a successful director and producer with films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna', 'My Name is Khan' and 'Student of the Year'. Karan Johar was on to prove his mettle as an actor in Anurag Kashyap's last release 'Bombay Velvet'. The film saw Karan playing a baddie. His Performance was critically acclaimed.

Farhan Akhtar: As an Producer, Director and Actor. Farhan Akhtar has always broken new ground with every project he gets associated. By directing films like 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Lakshya', 'Don', 'Don 2' and by Acting in films like 'Rock On', 'Luck by Chance', 'Karthik Calling Karthik' to the recently released 'Wazir'. He has proved to be the great actor.

Tigmanshu Dhulia: The National award winning director Tigmanshu Dhulia showcased his acting skills in film 'Gangs of Wasseypur', he plays the negative lead in the film. He played the character of Ramadhir Singh that aged 40 to 90 years which was directed and produced by Anurag Kashyup. His character was well received by the audience.

Ashutosh Gowarikar: Ashutosh Gowarikar started his career as an actor with Ketan Mehta's 'Holi'. This well established director did confess that acting has always been his first love and is waiting for an apt role to sway him off direction.

Amol Gupte: The producer, director, writer, Social Activist and Actor Known for his directorial films like 'Stanley Ka Dabba', 'Hawa Hawaai' and writer and creative director of Taare Zameen Par' is also famous for acting skills in films like 'Kaminey', 'Singham Returns'.
