The month of October is selected internationally to create awareness about breast cancer and also stress is given on early detection, screening, self examination and educate the public. October is specially called pink October. Early detection offers the best chance of cure.

Breast cancer conquerors meet is conducted every October for the patients to interact among themselves and also to educate the public. The conquerors meet also reinstates that breast cancer is not a killer disease and many of our women who have taken treatment have survived for an average of 15 years. The goal is to let the public know that patients can live a healthy long lasting life even after they get the dreaded breast cancer.

Dr K Shantha Breast Cancer Foundation & Dr G Vishwanathan Group of Hospitals organised the conquerors meet at Hotel Marvic on October 30, Trichy and RJ Saha (“Dairy Saha”), the station Manager of Hello FM 106.4 was the celebrity guest and Dr. M. s. Ashraf, Dr. B.c. Roy Awardee and Prof. Dr. A. Zameer Pasha, PDG 2019 – 2020, RI Dist 3000 were the Guests of Honour. About 150 breast cancer conquerors participated in the event.

The event started off with the lighting of the lamp by the breast cancer survivors. RJ Saha interacted with the conquerors and among them were the long-term conquerors and the recently diagnosed breast cancer patients. The senior survivor educated the young patients on how they coped with the treatment schedule, side effects of chemotherapy, and problems they came across the last 10 years and reassured the new breast cancer patients. The conquerors were honored by the guest of honor and celebrity guest.

The take home message was “women can have a normal healthy lasting life if diagnosed early with regular breast self-examination and screening after the age of 35 years for every woman”. The event was followed by performance of popular TV artists with dance songs and fun. A total of 600 audience attended the event.
