After nearly thirty years in the music business, Britney Spears announced her firm decision to retire from the industry.

Amidst rumors of a comeback aided by pop icons Charli XCX and Julia Michaels for a new album, Spears took to Instagram to debunk the speculations. She clarified, “Just so we’re clear, most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album… I will never return to the music industry!!!”

Spears emphasized her preference for writing songs for others or for fun rather than making a personal comeback. She also debunked false reports about her memoir, "The Woman in Me," insisting that it was not released without her approval.

Rolling Stone reported that moments before her social media post, sources close to Spears' project indicated efforts to gather music to entice her back to the studio. However, Spears remains disinterested in actively recording music.

In 2021, following her liberation from a 13-year conservatorship, Spears had expressed her desire to step away from music, citing her traumatizing experiences in the industry. She mentioned her fear of people and the music business, explaining that quitting music was her way of expressing disdain for the mistreatment she faced.

Her last studio album, "Glory," was released in 2016. Despite earlier comebacks and collaborations, including a remake of Elton John's "Hold Me Closer" in 2022 and reuniting with will.i.am for "Mind Your Business" in 2021, Spears maintains her decision to retire from the music scene.
