What is it all about?

Ironic. Tigmanshu Dhulia gets undone in his heartland Uttar Pradesh. Fox Star Studios in association with Brandsmith Motion Pictures and Moving Pictures along with the talented Tigmanshu Dhulia go for a desi Katta (read raw and rustic) of entertainment - not new for Dhulia but with bigger canvas and bigger stars in `Bullet RaJa' and misfires in the excitement. `Bullet Raja' is an example of how a good talent in the push and pull of commercial success and artistic progress gets stalled for big budget benefits of production houses and stars whose highest motivation point are the weekend collections not the audience reactions.

The Story

Tigmanshu Dhulia and Amaresh Misra don,t bother much and churn out an inconsistent and convenient screenplay where Saif Ali Khan plays Raja Mishra an educated daredevil who accidently bumps into a marriage ceremony where he meets Jimmy Sheirgill who plays Rudra who belongs to a gangster family. A life saving dare devilry by Raja bonds him with Rudra and they both unwillingly are dragged into the state of Uttar Pradesh. One day an untoward incident changes the life of all.

What to look out for

Dhananjay Mondal this time also after Saheb Biwi series does a remarkable art work. The look, feel and atmosphere are so clear that it feels you are almost there. P.S. Vinod camerawork is fine. Tigmanshu Dhulia's dialogues are witty and well placed. As a director he is successful in establishing the bonding between Saif and Jimmy. At some points `Bullet Raja' hits it right like the killing of Rudra and Ravi Kishan, Vidyut Jamwal's action and his entry. Boy.. isn,t he the new action hero. He is excellent. Jimmy Shergill is simply brilliant. Chunky Pandey after a long time doesn,t looks like a caricature and does well. Raj Babbar, Gulshan provide able support.

What not

Saif Ali Khan is inconsistent. The screenplay doesn,t surprise, Tigmanshu Dhulia disappoints as a filmmaker. Completely out of sync scenes like the Mumbai episode, the scene with the Maharashtrian waiter, the Tamanche pe disco song in fact all the songs (Music Sajid, Wajid) are injected without any prescription just for the sake of it and to get music rights. The background is not up to mark. Rahul Shrivastav's editing could have being sharper. Sonakshi Sinha gets wasted again. it was sad to see Mahie Gill in such a way after Saheb Biwi.. and that too in a Tigmanshu Dhulia film.

Conclusion: Bullet Raja is a mediocre actioner, thanks to the inconsistency of Saif Ali Khan as the lead actor and Tigmanshu Dhulia as the filmmaker who ensure audience doesn,t deserve them in such messed up arrangements.
