Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the state's IT Minister Nara Lokesh met Microsoft founder Bill Gates at Microsoft Cafe, Promenade, during their ongoing trip to the World Economic Forum which is being held in Davos.
CBN requested Gates to support the development of the IT sector in Andhra Pradesh. On the other side, Lokesh invited Bill Gates to join the Advisory Board of the world-class AI university being set up in the state. The duo further requested Bill Gates to make AP the gateway for the activities of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in South India.
It is already known that Chandrababu Naidu transformed Hyderabad into an IT hub by inviting Bill Gates to set up Microsoft's centre in the city way back in the 90s.
Lokesh took to social media to share pictures from this meeting. He wrote, "I met with @BillGates at the Microsoft Café, along with @ncbn Garu. We had a wonderful discussion on how Microsoft's first development centre outside the USA transformed Hyderabad into an IT powerhouse."
"As @ncbn Garu presented his vision for Andhra Pradesh and his Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, he requested the Microsoft founder to extend support and cooperation for the development of IT in the state. I also invited Bill Gates to join the Advisory Board of the world-class AI university being set up in the state and asked him to consider making Andhra Pradesh the gateway for the activities of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in South India," he added.
Lokesh revealed that Bill Gates responded to the request positively. He wrote, "@BillGates responded positively to all the requests made, and I look forward to seeing their footprint in the state soon. @BMGFIndia."
