Gopichand's seemingly well-made spy thriller 'Chanakya' has finally locked its release date. The action drama, which casts the hero in the role of a strategic and smart thinker, will hit the screens on October 5.

"Writer-director Thiru made a very good film with slick action moments and meaty production values. AK Entertainments is confident that the film will cash in on Dasara season. That's why they are releasing the movie just three days after Sye Raa's release," a source says.

Shot variously in Rajasthan and other locations, it has Mehreen Pirzada, Jayaprakash and Zareen Khan (Bollywood actress). With music by Vishal Chandrasekhar and cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, its dialogues are by Abburi Ravi.
