Chattam

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

Jagapathi Babu who is on a movie signing spree is certainly on a roll. He recently announced that he will do ten films an year and Chattam is one of them. This family hero plays the role of a corrupt police officer in this film. Seldom do we see him play a police officer role. The movie unit promoted this movie as inspired from Kasab, the accused in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Jagapathi Babu's muse Vimalaraman is seen romancing him again after their hot scenes in Gaayam-2. Produced by Natti Kumar, this flick was made in short span of time and is expected to evoke public emotion on lacklustre response from the cops on the problems of the people.

M M Sreelekha composes music for the film and Jaswant handles cinematography for this movie. It has been long since Sreelekha gave good music and it is to be seen if she manages to bounce back with her soothing tunes. So far as this album is concerned, not many knew that this film has songs too. It failed to create any buzz for its music on the charts.

Aasha Saini a.k.a Mayuri's item number is expected to be the highlight of this film. Those who know of the story feel it has a tinge of Dabanng and a little bit of own story by the  director in this film. The publicity for this potboiler is poor and given the entertainment oppurtunities that are available, it is imperative for the makers to focus more or it if audience are to come to the screens.

The story of the movie suggests that it is an action thriller and it is to be seen if Jagapathi Babu can carry it off or if it will fall flat at the box office this Summer, more so with the cricket fever at its peak.
