'Chennai 28 II' is the first South Indian Film to do this

Looks like going digital and capitalizing the widespread use of social media the way forward in terms of promoting new movies today. Director Venkat Prabhu’s debut production venture ‘Chennai 600028 II Innings’ may be termed as the classic example of how social media can create waves among the movie buffs.

For the first time ever in South Indian Cinema, am movie has been promoted in partnership with social media that too with the giant plyaer Facebook. ‘Chennai 600028 II’ team is probably the first film unit to have an exclusive Meet & Greet at Facebook Heaquarters in Hyderabad which went LIVE on Facebook. The crew included Venkat Prabhu the director of the movie, Premgi Amaran, Mirchi Shiva, Aravind Akash, Nithin sathya Vijay vasanth, Maheswari, Nagendran and Editor Praveen. This has created a stir among Tamil film audiences, reaching 8 lakh people in one single window, 5k people LIVE streaming the entire session, 250K views and 6 K comments and growing as we speak.

The Facebook LIVE session of 55 minutes comprised of an engaging Q & A discussion between the movie’s cast and crew and 11 lucky winners of an online contest and other fans. This was followed by a cricket quiz, promos of the ‘Chennai 28 II Innings' songs and a lot more fun filled activities.

The film’s music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is usually a man of few words, surprised everyone with his enthusiasm and quick wit. The highly expected numbers House party and Nee kidaithayo song promos were released during the session as a surprise to the fans as well.

Just a few days before going LIVE on FB, Chennai 28 II Innings team came up with specialized DP framing feature on Facebook and which has already reflected on 85K profiles and still counting!
