The Chennai High Court has rejected a petition filed by Netflix seeking dismissal of a case related to actress Nayanthara’s wedding documentary. The case was originally initiated by actor Dhanush.

Netflix had approached the court to dismiss the lawsuit, which pertains to the streaming rights and related legal issues surrounding the wedding documentary of Nayanthara. However, the High Court ruled against the streaming giant, allowing the case to proceed further.

Dhanush filed a case concerning the unauthorized use of footage in the documentary “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale.” Dhanush’s legal action centers on the inclusion of clips from his 2015 production, “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,” in the documentary without his consent. He is seeking ?10 crore in damages for this alleged infringement.

In response to the lawsuit, actress Nayanthara, the documentary’s central figure, publicly criticized Dhanush. She accused him of harboring personal grudges stemming from their past professional relationship and expressed disappointment over his refusal to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the footage, despite her requests over two years. Nayanthara emphasized that the disputed clip was a brief, three-second behind-the-scenes segment.

This decision adds another layer to the ongoing legal battle involving prominent figures in the Tamil film industry. Further developments in the case are eagerly awaited.
