Hyderabad: Actor Chiranjeevi's comments about girl children have sparked controversy on social media.
At the promotion event of the movie ‘Brahma Anandam’ in Hyderabad, featuring renowned comedian Brahmanandam and his son, several celebrities, including actor Chiranjeevi and director Nag Ashwin, participated. During the event, Chiranjeevi discussed his friendship with Brahmanandam and stated that he has no plans to enter politics.
One remark during his speech has drawn severe criticism. Chiranjeevi said, "When I am at home, I feel like a ladies' hostel warden. I keep telling Ram Charan to have a male heir to continue our lineage. He loves his daughter very much, but I fear he might have another daughter."
His statement about girl children has faced widespread backlash on social media. Many netizens criticized Chiranjeevi, stating that a widely respected figure speaking in a way that promotes gender bias is unacceptable. As of now, Chiranjeevi has not responded to the controversy.
