Chiranjeevi, others went to US for funds, what happened after that?: Balakrishna

Nandamuri Balakrishna may just have created another controversy in less than a week. In his latest interview, the Nata Simha has asked what happened to the plan to build a building for MAA, an endeavour for which Chiranjeevi and others tried to raise funds last year.

"There is too much sycophancy and hypocrisy in the film industry. The Movie Artists Association wanted to build a building for itself at a cost of Rs 5 Cr. Many actors, including Chiranjeevi, went to the US to raise funds. I was not even invited. What happened to that project? There is no progress on that front till now," Balakrishna told a YouTube channel.

He suggested that the film industry reps are not doing enough to leverage their importance. "The government is hell-bent on restarting film shootings. Why? It's because they want revenues. We pay the highest amount of taxes. When we are that important and members of the film industry have good equations with the (Telangana) government, why can't they get incentives announced in favour of Tollywood?" Balakrishna asked.

Recently, the 'Legend' actor and Hindupur MLA complained that he was not invited to the meeting between the T government and representatives of Tollywood. Does Balayya think it is because he had criticized KCR in the past? "I don't think so. KCR garu is not angry with me at all. He is a fan of NTR garu and he sees me as a son. Politics shouldn't be mixed with cinema," the 'Ruler' actor said.

Asked to comment about his allegation that real estate deals have been discussed in the meetings between the government and the film industry reps, Balayya refused to elaborate. Keeping mum, he didn't say anything.
