Chiranjeevi tests positive for COVID-19

On Monday, Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi announced that he has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The veteran actor revealed the news through his Twitter handle.

Took a test for COVID before resuming 'Acharya' shoot as a protocol and unfortunately tested positive. I am currently asymptomatic & quarantining myself at home. Request all those who met me in the last 5 few days to also undergo covid tests. Will update you on my recovery soon,” the actor said in a letter to fans and the media.

It was just a day ago, the 65-year-old actor along with actor Nagarjuna met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan to discuss issues facing the Telugu film industry. The pictures from their meeting were widely circulated on social media.

In the pictures, both the CM as well as the actor were seen without masks. With the announcement of Chiranjeevi, it sure has created anxiety among netizens. Fans flooded the comments section with wishes for the star asking him to get well soon.

Other celebrities who tested positive for coronavirus includes Amitabh Bachchan and his family including son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya, and his 8-year-old granddaughter, Prithviraj, Genelia D'Souza, Malaiak Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Tamannaah, etc.

On the work front, Chjiranjeevi will next be seen in Telugu film Acharya, directed by Koratala Siva. It will be the 152nd movie of his career.
