Actress VJ Chithra who endeared herself to the television audiences acting as Mullai in the serial 'Pandian Stores' passed away on December 9th by suicide which was certified by the government hospital authorities after postmortem. Her husband Hemnath was arrested after five days of inquiry for abetting suicide and is in jail.

Hemnath's father Ravichandran has given a petition to the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Chennai and also spoke to the media regarding the issue. He has denied reports that his son Hemnath was suspicious of Chithra and fought with her to stop acting in intimate scenes in television serials.

Ravichandran has further stated in his petition that Chithra had connections with politics and one particular politician was speaking to her on daily basis. He further requested an inquiry on social media reports that Chithra already had affairs with three men and with one person she got nearly married but broke up at the last minute. It has also been mentioned that a famous TV anchor had taken Chithra out for dating and had captured their intimate moments on camera and was blackmailing her and the police have been asked to probe the allegations.

Ravichandran submitted CCTV footage that shows Chithra and Hemnath in a happy mood on December 7th along with both their family members booking a marriage hall for their wedding planned for February 2021. He questioned how within twenty four hours she could have fought with him when she was so happy and in fact it was she who wanted to hurry up the wedding.

Ravichandran has also pointed out in his petition reports that said that unknown persons could have threatened Chithra not to marry as it could affect her TRP rating. Further other reports have claimed that the actress would become tense when calls came from certain numbers and she would later delete the caller information.

Hemnath's father has also asked the police to make a thorough investigation on how Chithra bought a bungalow and an Audi car for one and a half crores and how the CCTV footage in the hotel she was staying was deleted and also to retrieve all her cellphone conversations. He has also called for attention that Chithra's mother is aware of all her daughters dealing and may remain silent due to the fear of an unknown force.
