Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Conquers Global Box Office with $264 Million Opening; India Delivers One of Its Biggest International Starts

Christopher Nolan’s latest epic The Odyssey has achieved a remarkable milestone at the global box office, crossing the $1 billion mark worldwide within just three weeks of its theatrical release. The fantasy action drama has emerged as a major commercial success and is showing no signs of slowing down.

The film has collected approximately $429.65 million in North America and $578.8 million from international markets, taking its worldwide total to around $1.008 billion.

With this achievement, The Odyssey becomes only the third Christopher Nolan film to cross the $1 billion milestone, following The Dark Knight ($1.008 billion) and The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08 billion). His 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer came close to the milestone but finished below the $1 billion mark.

Interestingly, The Odyssey is now on course to become Nolan’s highest-grossing film ever, potentially surpassing The Dark Knight Rises in the coming days.

The film has also delivered exceptional numbers for IMAX, which has contributed an estimated $257 million to the movie’s worldwide earnings. With its impressive IMAX performance, The Odyssey is expected to soon become the highest-grossing release in IMAX’s history.

And the box office journey is far from over. The film is yet to open in China, one of the world’s biggest theatrical markets. The movie is set for a major release across the country, including 800 IMAX screens along with a large number of standard screens.

With the China release still ahead, The Odyssey could push its worldwide total significantly higher and further strengthen Christopher Nolan’s position among the biggest global filmmakers.
