Cigarette makes Anurag Kashyap's 'Ugly' to wait

Anurag Kashyap's forthcoming film ‘Ugly’ was slated to release on 11th October, but suddenly the release was moved forward to next year to January 3rd.

According to our reports, Anurag Kashyap has submitted his film ‘Ugly’ for censor certificate on 16th September and hasn't got it yet. Apparently it was Anurag’s unwillingness to carry the disclaimer - Cigarette smoking is injurious to health - in the smoking scenes featured in the film which lead to it getting pushed.

Spokesperson of DAR Motion Pictures and Phantom Films, both co-producers, added, The CBFC has directed us to insert a disclaimer in shots where a cigarette is visible, for the film to be certified. We are not carrying the disclaimer and are currently engaged in a dialogue with the Board. If the issue is not sorted out to our satisfaction, we will consider other options.

Incidentally, there was a case earlier wherein Woody Allen too had refused to release his Cate Blanchett-starrer ‘Blue Jasmine’ in India for the same reason.
