The name Mukund Chand Bothra is synonymous with money as far as Kollywood is concerned as he was the biggest financier for films in Chennai. The 59 year old Bothra while resting at his house in Sowcarpet complained of chest pain and was rushed to a nearby hospital but passed away without responding to treatment. He is survived by his wife and two sons Sandeep and Sugan Bothra.

Mukund Chand Bothra was in the news lately for attaching Superstar Rajiikanth in an rupees 55 lakhs default case against Dhanush's father Kasthuriraja. He had also served prison time booked under the Goondas Act for charging exorbitant interest (Kandhu vatti) and came out on bail.
