Cloud seeding, HK Patil announced

The Karnataka state rural development and Panchayat Raj Minister HK Patil disclosed that the ground work for cloud seeding is beginning from next week in the wake of downfall in rainfall.

It is Rs.35 crore allocations for the cloud seeding. The cloud to appear in the targeted areas to start the process is the only wait says the minister.

The project of cloud seeding has been entrusted to Hoysala Projects Private Limited, necessary instructions have been given to catch the areas so that inflow to dams increase. Three imported Radars have been installed at Shahapur in Yadgir district, Gadag and Bengaluru.

The entire process of cloud seeding completes in sixty days in the three rivers – Cauvery, Malaprabha and Thungabhadra basins.

In the last SM Krishna government pressed for cloud seeding following severe drought in 2002.
