The final results of the Telangana elections revealed a distribution of 64 seats for the Congress, 39 for the BRS, 8 for the BJP, 7 for the AIMIM, and 1 seat for Congress' ally CPI.

In response to the electoral outcome, Telangana's incumbent Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, submitted his resignation to the state Governor, Tamilisai Soundararajan. Contrary to expectations of a personal meeting at Raj Bhavan, KCR opted to send his resignation through his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and reportedly retreated to his farmhouse in Gajwel. Confirming this development, KCR's son, KTR, addressed the press and acknowledged that KCR had formally tendered his resignation to Governor Tamilisai.

Subsequent reports suggest that the Governor has accepted KCR's resignation but has requested him to continue in office until the formation of the new government. Despite the election results falling short of their expectations, KCR expressed gratitude to the people for providing the BRS with the opportunity to serve them for two consecutive terms.

Speaking to reporters, KTR emphasized the democratic process, stating, "As part of the democratic process, our chief minister has already sent his resignation to the Governor. I think the due process will follow." The unexpected nature of KCR's resignation, sent through his OSD, raised eyebrows, and KTR took charge of addressing the press amidst speculation.

While KCR is yet to publicly respond to the surprising defeat of the BRS, KTR assured that the party, under KCR's leadership, would persist in working for the greater good of the people of Telangana. Congratulating the Congress on winning the people's mandate, KTR pledged the BRS's full cooperation with the new government. He declared the BRS's commitment to assume the role of a constructive opposition, indicating a willingness to engage positively in the democratic process despite the electoral setback.
