Tamil Nadu: Man dies as government bus runs over him, CCTV footage captured

Two men were run over by a government bus in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on Sunday morning, of which one of them died.

The CCTV footage of the tragic incident that happened in Gandhipuram shows two men, identified as Prasannakumar (18) and Vignesh (18), in a two-wheeler coming under the wheels of a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus that took a sharp left turn. The vehicle then halts, following which passengers run out of the bus to check on the two men. They were immediately rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College, where Prasannakumar, who was driving the scooter, was declared brought dead. Vignesh, who has sustained injuries, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. According to a report by a news agency, a case has been registered against the driver and conductor of the bus based on a complaint by Vignesh's father, that read, "On the said date and time, the driver of TNSTC bus Soundarapandi drove it in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against the Aprilia Storm Scooter at the scene of the crime."

The driver and conductor of the government bus have reportedly been booked under Sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 (A) (Causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
