A 29-year-old constable attached to the Coimbatore city armed reserve police was suspended on charges of indecent behaviour after a video showing a woman planting a kiss on his cheek went viral on social media on Saturday.

The policeman was identified as V Balaji, a native of Cuddalore district who was staying with his wife and two children at the police quarters on the Police Recruit School (PRS) campus.

“On Friday evening, Balaji was chatting with his wife’s sister-in-law (brother-in-law's wife) at the park near Valankulam lake, when she suddenly kissed him. Balaji was in uniform. As Balaji was in uniform at the time of the incident, deputy commissioner of police Muralidharan placed him under suspension on Saturday,” the officer added.

A group of youngsters who were in the park recorded this and sent it to the Coimbatore police officers. The video also went viral and Balaji was put under suspension by the Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner of Police, (City armed reserve), Muralidharan on Saturday.
