Veteran comedy actor Dhamu recieves rare National honor

Veteran comedy actor Dhamu who is a mimicry artist made his debut in 'Vaaname Ellai' directed by K. Balachander in the year 1992. He has since acted in many hit films with big stars such as Vikram, Ajith and Vijay including 'Gemini', 'Amarkalam' and 'Ghilli'. IN the past few years he has not been seen in films since he started concentrating on social services.
The Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR) held the 14TH RASHTRIYA SHIKSHA GAURAV PURASKAR CEREMONY 2021 virtually in which individuals and institutions were recognized for their contributions to the Education system in India.
Dhamu has received the National Education Pride Award for his continuous efforts in the past decade in Education and Development. He is said to have aided a staggering 20 Lakh students to be educated in that period of time and is continuing the effort.
Dhamu has stated that how the former Indian President the late APJ Abdul Kalam entrusted the late actor Vivek with planting trees he similarly initiated him to train students in education and development.
Dhamu who said he felt elated by the central government recognition stated that the online classes conducted due to the coronavirus pandemic is not an effective module and benefits only 25 per cent of students. But he added that there is no other option due to the second wave spreading at an alarming rate.
