The official coronavirus updates show 6986 new cases similar to the number reported yesterday indicating a steady spread with the total number of cases so far-reaching 2,13,723  The death toll now stands at 3494 after 85 persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

Chennai for almost fifteen days now has remained flat reporting 1155 cases today.  Among the other districts the data reads Chengalpet- 501 Thiruvallur- 480 Kancheepuram, Ranipet and Virudhunagar- 300+ cases Coimbatore, Dindigul, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Theni, Tuticorin and Villupuram- 200+ cases.

On the positive side the highest single-day number of 62,305 persons were tested.  5471 patients have been discharged today rising up the tally of recoveries to 1,56,526.
