COVID 19 update - Rest of TN reports more cases than Chennai for the first time

Tamil Nadu today recorded its highest number of new COVID 19 patients crossing the 4000 mark for the first time. Today 4343 patients tested positive out of whom 2027 are from Chennai. The state now has 98,392 cases with the capital city housing 62,598. This is the first time that the rest of Tamil Nadu are reporting more cases than Chennai almost the double. The death toll in the state now stands at 1321 after 57 persons lost their lives in the past twenty four hours.

On the positive side the highest single-day number of 3095 patients were discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 56,021. The increase in the number of positive patients is also due to the testing done on 32,456 persons which is the highest single-day number as well.

Chengalpet, Kallakurichi, Kanchipuram, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai and Vellore are reporting sharp increase in the number of coronavirus patients.
