COVID 19 Updates - Chennai remains flat, rest of TN soaring and recovery rate improving

The official coronavirus updates for the day indicate an impressive rise in the rate of recoveries with 5106 going home today taking up the tally of discharges to 1,07,416. Chennai has once again recorded 1157 new cases with the graph remaining flat on an average of the past week.

The other districts of Tamil Nadu are seeing a surge in new cases with the overall number of 4549 new cases. The state now has 1,56,369 patients with 2236 deaths after 69 persons losing their lives in the past twenty-four hours. Thiruvallur recorded the highest single-day spike of 526 cases while Madurai, Thiruvannamalai and Vellore reported 200+ cases.

45,888 tests were done today out of the total number of 17,82,635 tests done so far and TN is leading the way in India in this aspect. The deaths in the state each day from June 29th to July 16th 2020 are 62,60,63,57,64,65,60,61,65,64,65,64,69,68,66,67,68 and 69.
