COVID 19 - Chennai &TN maintain high number of new cases ahead of total lockdown

The official updates on the COVID 19 situation in Tamil Nadu has seen no respite as the high number of 1843 cases have been reported in the past twenty four hours out of which 1257 are in Chennai. The state now has 46,504 cases with the state capital accounting for 33,244 cases. The death toll has risen to 382 after the highest single day spike of 44 persons lost their lives today.

797 patients have been discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 25,344 and the number of active cases now stands at 20,678. There are no districts with zero cases as even in the Nilgiris which had only 14 cases reported so far three people have been infected.

18,403 samples were tested today out of 7,29,002 samples tested so far. 2362 children under the age of 12 have been affected so far and the number is increasing day by day. The Tamil Nadu government has announced total lockdown again from June 19th to 30th which may make a difference in the infection and death rates which we have wait and watch.
