COVID 19 - New cases in Tamil Nadu and Chennai remain alarmingly high

The official updates for the COVID 19 pandemic in Tamil Nadu has reported another high number of 1875 new cases today out of which 1407 are from Chennai. The state now has a staggering 38,716 cases with the capital city accounting for 27,398. The death toll is now 349 after 23 persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

An encouraging sign is 1372 patients have been discharged today which is the highest for a single day so far taking up the tally of recoveries to 20,705. Tiruppur and The Nilgiris are among the few districts that have been maintaining their COVID 19 free status for the past one month.

15,456 persons have been tested today rising the tally to 6,25,312 individuals tested so far. 16,829 samples have been tested today out of which 564 samples are under process. 1999 children under the age of 12 have been infected so far.
