COVID 19 - A slight decrease in numbers in TN but Chennai still alarming

The official coronavirus updates for Tamil Nadu have just been released with 447 new patients testing positive in the past 24 hours taking the total number to 9674.  13 people from Maharashtra who reached Tirunelveli district have all tested positive and have been quarantined.  It is after ten days that TN has reported less than 500 which is encouraging for now.

Chennai is reporting the same high numbers every day with 363 reported today which is almost seventy-five percent of the state total and now has 5625 COVID 19 patients which is more than half the number of the rest of TN. 2,240 people have so far recovered from the deadly virus including 64 today.  The death toll has now touched 66 after two people lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur have reported zero new coronavirus cases.  11,965 samples tested today. out of the 2,91,432 samples tested to date. 2,80,023 individuals tested so far. Of the 9674 cases, 6389 are male patients, 3282 female,3 transgenders and 555 children under age 12 affected so far.
