Shock Sunday! Tamil Nadu and Chennai report highest spike in COVID 19 cases

The Sunday evening has got a big jolt as the official coronavirus updates have arrived bringing the scary number of a massive 1149 new cases in Tamil Nadu out of which a staggering 804 are from Chennai. These are the highest single-day spike recorded since the disease started spreading in March this year. There are now 22,333 patients in the state with 14,802 of them in the capital city. The death toll has risen to 173 after 13 persons lost their lives in the past twenty four hours.

On the positive side 757 patients got discharged.today taking up the total number of recoveries to 12,757. Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Namakkal and Tiruppur are among the districts that are maintaining the zero number of patients for the past two weeks.

12,049 individuals tested today out of 4,69,282 people tested so far. 12,807 samples tested today alone. Of the 22,333 cases, 14,065 are male, 8259 female, 9 are transgenders and 1286 are children under the age of 12 affected so far.
