COVID-19: ADB to give India Rs 16,700 Cr

The Asian Development Bank has on Friday pledged USD 2.2 Billion (Rs. 16,700 Cr) to India towards battling COVID-19. This comes on the back of the World Bank committing USD 1 Billion recently.

While announcing the support package, ADB lauded the efforts of India in containing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The amount will go into supporting India’s emergency needs, and the health sector. It will also help alleviate the economic impact of the pandemic on the poor among informal workers, etc. Moreover, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and the country's financial sector will also stand to benefit.

ADB will give more in the future based on India's needs.
