CRPF jawan arrested for vandalising Periyar statue

Only a few days back, the vandalising of Vladimir Lenin’s statue in Tripura caused great distress in the country following which BJP H Raja’s statements adding fuel to the frenzy. Now, a CRPF jawan has been arrested for vandalising the statue of Periyar in Pudukottai.

Senthil Kumar, a  CRPF head constable had climbed the platform and smashed the head of the statue in an inebriated condition. Reportedly the jawan had been on a vacation from his posting in Chattisgargh. In addition to this, CRPF had also issued a statement that Senthil was taking treatment for Schizophrenia in its Hyderabad facilty.

Currently he has been placed under suspension awaitingan enquiry into the same.
