In a shocking turn of events, the Danish football player had collapsed on the field during the 43rd minute of Denmark's Group B game against Finland in Copenhagen on Saturday.
Medical personnel immediately administered CPR as Eriksen lay unconscious for nearly 15 minutes. He was then shifted to a hospital and Denmark's team doctor confirmed that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. Claiming that there was no explanation for why he collapsed during the match, the doctor said, He was gone, and we did cardiac resuscitation. How close were we? I don't know.
