The song "Govinda" from the upcoming Tamil movie "DD Next Level" has stirred controversy. The film, starring actor Santhanam and produced by Arya, also features Selvaraghavan, Gautham Menon, Yashika Anand, Nizhagal Ravi, and Redin Kingsley among others. Scheduled for release this week, the film has come under fire for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Certain Hindu organizations have raised objections to the "Govinda" song, claiming it shows disrespect towards Lord Venkateswara of the Tirumala Tirupati temple. They have demanded that the controversial song be removed from the movie.
In response, Bhanu Prakash Reddy, a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) trust board and a BJP spokesperson, has issued a legal notice to both actor Santhanam and the film’s production company. The notice seeks ₹100 crore in damages and insists the removal of the song from the film.
The notice also states that if a proper response is not received within 15 days, a criminal case will be filed against the actor and the filmmakers.
