Rani Mukerjee's movie MARDAANI has peeped up women with vigor to fight against remarks attacking their modesty. A picture of this was seen in Bollywood itself, when Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone valiantly hit back at a leading national daily that attempted to garner titillation displaying her photo exposing her cleavages in a report titled "OMG: Deepika Padukone's cleavage show".
Peeved at the photos, Deepika Padukone strongly condemned the media house tweeting "YES! I am a Woman. I have breasts and a cleavage! You got a problem!!??"
She added, "Supposedly India's 'LEADING' newspaper and this is 'NEWS'!!??," She further blasted the media house lambasting, "Don't talk about Woman's Empowerment when YOU don't know how to RESPECT Women!"
The bold and gallant reply against the media house by Deepika Padukone generated a dynamic support for her from the film fraternity. Famous producer, director Karan Johar expressed his shock and anger at the media house. In his tweet he wrote, "Appalled....shocked and disgusted at the level of disrespect shown. Deepika or any women in the world cannot and should not stand for this!!"
Eminent actor Arjun Rampal praising Deepika Padukone for her fearless outrage criticized yellow journalism that in lure of attracting readership retort to cheap sensational journalism.
Film Director Shoojit Sircar, known for making hard hitting sensational movies like VICKY DONOR and MADRAS CAFE condemning the act of the media house related the media report as an eve teasing of different kind.
Interestingly aghast by the actresses' wrath and the superlative support that she garnered from the film fraternity and the citizens alike, the media house took a U Turn and tweeted to the actress that the report was meant to be a compliment': "You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew! :"
Ironically hitting back at the media house for their U Turn, director Farah Khan, in whose film HAPPY NEW YEAR, Deepika Padukone plays the lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan wrote, "Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim. @deepikapadukone doing just that!! (N THATS how u pay a compliment!)"
