'Jai Bhim' produced and starring Suriya in the lead was released directly on Amazon Prime Video on Diwali 2021to high critical praise. Directed by T.J. Gnanavel, the film also featured stellar performances by Manikandan, Lijo Mol Jose, Thamizh and Rejisha Vijayan. Surya played the role of a lawyer based on real life social activist and former judge Chandru. The subject is also based on a true story, from one of Chandru's cases.

Suriya fans and the general audiences were disappointed when 'Jai Bhim' was completely panned by the National Awards committee with several claiming that there is politics behind that decision.

Now 'Jai Bhim' is once again trending high as a video of a deleted fight scene has gone viral. The scene shows an intercaste register marriage by a couple who are attacked by armed men. Suriya comes to their rescue and helps them board an autorickshaw after subduing the knife weilding attackers. The scene was apparently added to the Hindi television version as the market demands action sequences to reach the audiences.

It is worth mentioning that a similar fight scene was also shot but removed from the OTT version of Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara. That fight also is available in the Hindi dubbed television versions.

Suriya is currently acting in 'Kanguva' directed by Siruthai Siva and costarring Disha Patani which is expected to release on a festive date in 2024. Next on the cards are 'Vaadivaasal' directed by Vetrimaaran, 'Suriya 43' directed by Sudha Kongara and 'Rolex' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
